Last year's winner of the prize was Jean Flynn for her novel Lovesick. Guest judge Alexandra Nahlous called Lovesick ‘a witty and fun page-turner about a lovelorn medical receptionist seemingly destined to make bad choices’.
About the author
Jean Flynn was born in Melbourne in 1980. After completing a Bachelor of Design at RMIT University in 2000 she started working as a freelance graphic designer. In 2008 she enrolled in a Certificate IV in Professional Writing and Editing at CAE. Her non-fiction work has since appeared in various newspapers, magazines and online, and she has had short stories published in several anthologies. Lovesick is her first novel. Jean currently lives in regional Victoria and teaches creative writing at Federation University.
